Bright Pink is on a mission to save women’s lives from breast and ovarian cancer by empowering them to live proactively at a young age. As a member of Team Bright Pink, your fundraising efforts will make this possible. Funds raised directly fuel our life-saving programs, including our newest program–The Emerging Medical Professional Program.
NEW IN 2015! The Emerging Medical Professional Program stems from a concern we were hearing from our constituents: all too often they were visiting OB/GYNs who seemed unaware of or ill-equipped to handle the management issues facing high-risk young women. Similarly, these doctors weren’t consistently speaking to all young women, high-risk or otherwise, about breast and ovarian cancer prevention and early detection strategies, because these diseases only came to the forefront of their minds when caring for their older patients.
To bridge these gaps in knowledge and formalize a framework for risk stratification and management in young women, a multidisciplinary panel of surgeons, oncologists, OB/GYNs and genetic counselors came together to develop this lecture and case-based learning workshop designed for residents in OB/GYN and other women’s healthcare programs. Our goal is to deliver this talk at all 251 OB/GYN programs in the US by 2019, thereby ensuring every graduating resident will have gone through this specialty training. The lecture is designed for use in resident didactics or for departmental grand rounds followed by resident case-based learning workshops.
